Frank Duveneck, is celebrated as one of the young American painters who helped awaken American interest in European Naturalism in the late 19^th and early 20^th century.

Widely known as an art teacher, the artist was born Frank Decker on October 9, 1848, in Covington, Kentucky, to German immigrant parents.
