The painting captures an image of a dilapidated village toilet representing the rickety sanitation facilities available in Indian villages. Due to inadequate sanitation people are suffering from various diseases and consequently it hampers their progress. Building efficient toilets and providing proper sanitation facilities is a task of paramount importance in India. Through this painting the artist tried to draw our attention to this problem.
Light of the door is intense and bright because aluminium sheets are used to cover the door. Incomplete edges of the bricks, on the right side of the gate, captures the wearning of stones, in absence of plaster. Darkness behind the door shows the ack of any light source of opening within the room.
