Capturing the burning ghat-Manikarnika , the painting is a tableau vivant of the perturbed souls attaining absolution. One of the oldest and the most sacred ghat in Varanasi Manikarnika has a deep philosophical significance. An optimal amalgamation of both life as well as death this great cremation ground stood as Moksha-Dwar i.e.the doorway of salvation.
Artist has shown maturity to bring lifelessness in the painting by using color schemes effectively. Reflections on the top of canopy structures exhibits the details in the art work. Darkness inside the building captures the context and hollowness of surroundings effectively.
